Winnipeg business leader and philanthropist Doug Harvey dies at age 72

By btbitcoin_net

WINNIPEG — Prominent Winnipeg business leader and noted philanthropist Doug Harvey died at the age of 72 on Wednesday.

Maxim Truck & Trailer, a subsidiary of DLH Group, which was founded by Harvey, announced his death in a statement on its website.

Harvey had been battling cancer for more than a decade and raised $1.88 million for the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation in June after being admitted into a palliative care program in May.

He founded Winnipeg-based DLH Group in 1981, growing the transportation business to employ about 800 people across the country.

Winnipeg mayor Scott Gillingham offered his condolences in a statement Wednesday, saying Harvey was a successful business leader who contributed to the city’s economy and supported countless non-profit organizations and fundraising campaigns.

In 2022, Harvey was awarded the Order of Manitoba and was also inducted into the Manitoba Business Hall of Fame.
