MONTREAL — Candidates from Quebec’s five main parties are debating their visions for the province’s economy in an evening debate.

Radio-Canada host Gérald Fillion is grilling the candidates on their plans to tackle American tariffs, the cost of living, energy and public finances.

The party leaders, who sparred in two debates earlier this week, are not participating.

The leaders will face off in a third televised debate scheduled for Sept. 23.

Candidates from the Coalition Avenir Québec, the Parti Québécois, the Quebec Liberal Party, Québec solidaire and the Conservative Party of Quebec are all participating in the economic debate.

Quebecers head to the polls Oct. 5.

This report by The Canadian Press was first published Sept. 17, 2026.
